Kadena Systems Signs Expanded Agreement to Provide Backup & Archiving Software for All SanDisk Flash Drives

SAN JOSE, Calif., December 8, 2004 – Kadena Systems, Inc. – a technology and licensing company specializing in data storage solutions for mobile, wireless, and PC markets – today announced it has signed an expanded agreement with SanDisk Corporation to include Kadena’s Cruzer PocketCache backup and archiving software on all SanDisk USB flash drives. The unique combination of Cruzer PocketCache’s patent-pending backup software and SanDisk’s market-leading flash drives gives users a powerful, easy-to-manage PC backup solution that can be carried on a key chain.

Previously included only on SanDisk’s high-end Cruzer Titanium drives, Cruzer PocketCache is now shipping with Cruzer Mini and Cruzer Micro flash drives. All Cruzer Titanium drives come with a fully licensed version of Cruzer PocketCache that is included in the purchase price. A full-featured, seven-day trial version ships with Cruzer Mini and Cruzer Micro and may be upgraded online to a fully licensed version for $20. Cruzer PocketCache is a new type of backup and archiving application designed exclusively for use with SanDisk’s Cruzer USB flash drives. Unlike conventional backup applications, Cruzer PocketCache uses an innovative content-based backup technology that detects minute changes in file contents and captures them in fast, storage-efficient backup “snapshots.” Content-based backup technology allows files to share common content with other files, reducing the size of most backups by 50- 80 percent. Due to exceptional backup efficiencies, PocketCache snapshots enable the typical user to back up hundreds of times onto the same flash drive without having to move data from the drive. Each snapshot is retained in a comprehensive archive containing a complete view of folders and files at the time of backup, making it easy to find, access and restore current and earlier versions of files. Archived files can be restored to disk, CD-RW or DVD-R by a simple “save” operation.

The SanDisk Cruzer/Cruzer PocketCache backup combination requires no installation, and once inserted into a USB connection, backup can be initiated with a few mouse clicks. Cruzer PocketCache is compatible with Windows 98SE, 2000, ME and XP Home and Professional.
