SANTA CLARA, Calif., Sept. 19, 2005 – Kadena Systems Inc., a technology and licensing company specializing in data storage solutions for mobile, wireless and PC markets, today announced that a new version of PocketCache™ content-backup software will be made available for U3™ powered USB smart drives. The new version, called PocketCache+, will enable mobile users to take their PC desktop files with them with the single click of a computer mouse, providing instantaneous “snapshots” of folders and files that are stored in the secure, protected workspace of a U3 powered USB smart drive. Users can instantly capture documents, pictures and files with built-in data security, all within a gum-pack size, U3 powered USB smart drive.

PocketCache+ is a new type of backup and archiving application. Unlike synchronization or conventional backup methods, PocketCache+ employs an innovative, content-based backup technology that detects minute changes in file contents and stores these in fast, highly storage-efficient “snapshots.” Due to exceptional backup efficiencies, PocketCache+ enables the typical user to back up hundreds of times onto the same drive without having to move data or make decisions about which files to retain. Content backup technology also allows contents in common to be shared among snapshots, reducing the size of most backups by 40 - 80 percent. Content sharing makes PocketCache+ ideal for capturing multiple versions and revisions of storage-intensive presentations, documents, spreadsheets and databases.

Each snapshot is kept in a comprehensive archive containing a complete “file-tree” view of folders and files at the time of backup, making it easy to find, access and restore current and previous versions of files, or even files that have been deleted. Archived files are easily restored to disk, CD-RW or DVD-R with a simple “save” operation.
