Kadena Systems develops advanced storage technologies ideal for manufacturers of storage applications for mobile, wireless, and PC applications. The company’s founders draw from prior experience at several of the IT industry's leading system and storage innovators including Veritas, Network Appliance, Auspex Systems, Sun Microsystems, HP, and Adaptec.

Beginning in 2004 Kadena delivered a second-generation de-duplication technology targeted at backup applications. The software was packaged for flash drive manufacturers as the PocketCache family of products.

Today, licensees of Kadena technology include both branded and private-label OEMs. SanDisk, the inaugural licensee of PocketCache, has alone distributed over 100,000 licenses on its high-capacity flash drives. PocketCache is also available direct from e-commerce reseller, Kagi. Technical support is provided by a combination of OEM technical support organizations and through Kadena Systems.
